NAME

Kitsault Gold Camp (Version 2.0)

Airport Name: "Kitsault Gold Pan"
ICAO Code: "PF03" ("PAPA FOXTROT ZERO THREE")

============================
STORYLINE

Immediately north of Kitsault Gold Camp lie the towering cliffs of granite and basalt formed from volcanic lava some seventy one million years ago. Formed during the Tertiary Period of geologic time it's a morasse of gorges and mountain passes hard enough to claim many lives from those interested in what may lie beneath the surface. Far to the West lie the barrier mountain ranges that guard the Pacific Ocean approaches. To the East, the wilderness knows no boundary. Exploration for Gold began here shortly after the civil war in the United States as prospectors came and laid claim to plots up and down the territory with the Kitsault area. The land in this area has served as a natural barrier between the lower desert and the mountainous region of the Superstition Wilderness. Prospectors have dug shafts and tunnels all along the wilderness pathways searching for copper, gold and silver for the past seventy years.

The Kitsault Gold Camp sprung up from the need for expeditions to have supplies and the small area of land became a popular trading post with the local indigenous tribes during the late 19th century. As word of "Gold Fever" spread to the area, small groups of trappers, prospectors and settlers found their way into the territory to find new promises of riches. Some were able to make small fortunes but most never saw a substantial return and they left for other locations. The Camp is a throwback to the day's of the gold rush and visitors today can experience panning for gold in the nearby rivers and streams. A trading post supplies most of the gear for everyone to have a chance to strike it rich. You keep what you find and rumor has it that there's more gold and riches yet to be discovered.

Chester Graves and his wife Gretchen, still operate tourist expeditions and each day, a group of guests will summon up the courage to take a horseback ride down to the nearby Kitsault River to pan for riches. Bear, Moose, Caribou and Wolf are all frequent visitors to the area and are spotted frequently. Afterwards, enjoy a great meal in "Chesters" Trading Post before departing back to the modern world.

DESIGNER NOTES

This is an update to the original version. It adds seasonal elements and other enhancements to give this location a new look.

=============================
REQUIRED SOFTWARE

These scenery addon's are for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator X and all versions of Prepar3D. The surrounding scenery this package is designed to work with and fit in is the ORBX scenery area "Pacific Fjords." If you haven't got this scenery region by ORBX, this file will probably not work for you.

=============================
REQUIRED OBJECTS

NOTE: You must have the complete collection of required object libraries from Return to Misty Moorings installed and activated in the simulator to properly see this scenery displayed as designed.
To get to the RTMM Object Library page, you can start here: http://www.return.mistymoorings.com/object_libraries_build/
Complete the installation of all the required RTMM Object Libraries before trying to use this scenery.
NO ORBX OBJECTS ARE USED IN THE DESIGN PROCESS.
There may be updates to this scenery at a later date.

==============================

Please make sure the new scenery folder is above any ORBX entries in the Scenery Library.

(NOTE: Remember to see Seasonal Trees and Foliage installation instructions below.)

===============================
SEASONAL TREES AND FOLIAGE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This Scenery is able to use the RTMM Season Switcher so please download the RTMM Scenery Switcher utility located here: (http://return.mistymoorings.com/getting_started/index.php#6) and read the included readme file for detailed installation and operating instructions.

There are five options to select from. You can select "No Season" which will take you to the summer season as default and you can select Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

When you run the RTMM Season Switcher.exe shortcut for the season you plan to visit, some of the objects <(e.g. trees, grasses, ground cover, etc.)> may change accordingly and the scenery, in most cases, will be displayed to match the season better. When you're ready to change seasons again, simply close the simulator and run the RTMM Season Switcher.exe shortcut again and make your new choice as explained in the RTMM Season Switcher readme file.

If you never run the RTMM Season Switcher, the default (no season chosen) summer scenery will display and, though it will look okay in any season, it will not have the integrated look and special seasonal objects that a specific seasonal choice might provide when using the season switcher utility. If you choose to use the season switcher then remember to switch your season to match your chosen season selection in the flight before you start up the simulator.
